What is full spectrum and how does it differ from Isolate?
The difference between full spectrum CBD and isolate starts with the way that it is processed. Isolate, like its name suggests, is CBD that is further refined to remove all cannabinoids other than CBD. Full spectrum CBD contains other compounds of the plant also believed to be beneficial. Thus, the main difference is that full spectrum CBD contains the other cannabinoids such as CNB, CBL, and CBCVA, as well as terpenes.
There was a time when CBD isolate was thought to be the gold standard when being used for its healing properties. A study done in 2015 (researchers out of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem’s Lautenberg Center for General and Tumor Immunology) discovered what is called the “entourage effect,” meaning that the CBD oils that were combined with other compounds of the cannabis plant had a better response in the mice being tested than pure CBD isolate. It is now widely believed that full spectrum CBD oils are more efficacious when being used to treat medical conditions. This is why Hana Hemp Co. has chosen to use full spectrum CBD oil in all of our products.
